On November 20, – my friend Fran organized an evening for me to try on wedding dresses @ Isabelle’s Bridal on Esplanade in North Vancouver. 8 of my girlfriends joined me at this after hours party, where they enjoyed some wine and appies while I tried on about 8-10 different dresses my friends had chosen for me.
The first dress I tried on was all silk, with a scoop neck and spaghetti straps (similar to what I had envisioned myself wearing on the day). I loved it but after trying on all of the dresses, it was the one I liked the least out of the bunch. My favorite that night was a pure silk, strapless gown from Pronovias. The style was called Embrujo and it was light, airy and perfect for an August evening wedding. Also, I am a bit clutzy and anything that is heavy with a long train could be disastrous for this bride.
At the end of the night, I had chosen 3 favorites – which the staff wrote down the details of for me in a little folder. I only wish they allowed us to snap some photos too. It would have been nice to share the shots with my mom and get her opinion.
What I learned from that night:
I don’t look like an ox in a strapless gown.
I do not like ribbons/sashes at all on a wedding gown.
Ivory seems to be the popular color for wedding dresses these days but I still like classic white.
I was originally going for simple but I think I like a little beading, lace or some sparkly detail.
