While I was making the guest list tonight for LPV3, I had Oprah’s Meet the Oscar Nominees show on in the background. I saw several movies I hadn’t heard of this year (been spending too much time with my Macbook in 2007, I guess) and actors, as well. My ears perked up when I heard Amy Ryan’s from Queens, NY attempt at a Boston accent. Most actors do not get this right. Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting is a perfect example of an actor, who tried too hard. But Amy did a pretty good job in the clip I saw.
Amy Ryan on Oprah
Amy Ryan seems so genuine and humble, you can’t help but root for her to win in the supporting actress role. And besides, Cate Blanchett has already won… enough. (Did anyone see Cate as Bob Dylan, btw?)
Even though Gone Baby Gone deals with child abduction, I may just have to put it on my list of movies to see… someday.
